I've concidered getting a Creative X-Fi Titanium HD but... - Page 2

wait.. if you're using dolby headphone dsp in foobar, isn't the output 2channels?

just fyi the thx trustudio surround that comes with the titanium hd can handle up to 5.1 channel input for headphone surround similar to dolby headphone

btw if you only need a 2channel analog output to headphone, its not a matter whether the soundcard has 5.1 analog output or not, its on what dsp the soundcard provide

Yea but I don't plan on using speakers for now at least. I'm just interested in the part if the signal is still handled in the exact same way (by the DAC) as soundcards with analog 5.1 speaker outputs and it's just a matter of the output being there or not and no other difference in terms of how the signal is processed.

ok did you decide

what did you decide

Titanium HD or Titanium pro

I have no idea how it works, I just go by my ear. :p

If I set my kX Audio driver settings for my Audigy 2 ZS to use 5.1 speaker setup in surrounder+ plugin it sounds better than with stereo

5.1-kx.jpg

Same goes for Realtek speaker configuration, 5.1 sounds noticably better with Dolby Headphone/channel mixer in foobar2000 (and also the channel test works so that I actually hear sound coming from the rear channels, it sounds like coming more from the "back" of the headphone driver)

5.1-kx.jpg

I just want to confirm Titanium HD can work in same/similar manner.

WOW, big letters rock!rolleyes.gif

...with that out of the way lol, RPGWiZaRD, the output will work in a similar way, it shouldn't be a concern. The DH wrapper works perfectly on DACs with less outputs than they're working with. After all, that's one of the base principles of software virtualization.

noooooo you cant do this in Titanium HD

dont believe them

only digital out 5.1

if you want the same settings as realtek dont buy Titanium HD

Oh, and keep in mind that kX isn't setting the output to 5.1, but it's enabling its own surround plugin that's applied to regular sources.

First thing you got right. If you want what you have on Realtek, don't get the Titanium HD and vice versa biggrin.gif

And this is why you don't know anything.

Good day.

Well to confirm to our friend tom2011 so that we're on the same page I need the 5.1 processing for software virtualization purposes (Dolby Headphone in this case) so if the card still handles 5.1 internally on the DACs like any other soundcard with also those analog speaker outputs then it's fine. Since 160 EUR is quite a lot money to spend on a soundcard I get doubtful on all kinds of aspects and started thinking perhaps if there's missing analog 5.1/7.1 outputs then perhaps there's no need for support in the DACs for other then stereo (probably crazy thinking regarding a 160 EUR soundcard).

Of course that budget being considered, looking over things more than once is quite recommended. And keep in mind that the transition of the card you're coming from to the card you intend on getting is meant to give you listening pleasure for quite some years to come, which is another reason why I advise you on that.

titanium hd support

stereo in analog

5.1 in digital

i think the settings you are doing in foobar is 5.1 analog

so you cant do it in titanium hd

you can do it in titanium professional

OK well I do intend to connect the headphone to the analog output headphone jack like I'm currently doing if that plays any matter in this regard, I won't connect any DACs/amps in-between why I probably won't end up using the digital outputs except for ZO then which isn't your typical amp and works fine even if it's "double amped" using analog output.

Wow, you're brilliant! rolleyes.gif

RPGWiZaRD, this fellow is wrong. The DH wrapper handles upmixed streams that the Channel Mixer sends. It works on the Titanium HD.

is the headphone 5.1

and do you select the output from the card control panel to 5.1
