Hi,
I have upgraded my Music Hall 25.2 DAC with a new tube.
I changed the original Electro Harmonix for a 6922 Sylvania JAN 1972.
(I changed the tube right after I bought the DAC)
I was quiet happy with the sound improvement but shorhtly after I noticed that the headphone output had become distorted (I had never used the headphone output until lately).
I have a much better sound with that Sylvania JAN Tube although the output seems a bit too "powerful".
Maybe that's the origin of the distortions in the headphone output…
Can a tube be more powerful than another one. I thought that just as long as you keep track of tube reference, everything was OK…
The DAC also produces a certain amount of "parasites" = noise on the amp (a Creek EVO and Tangent one).
Can this background noise come from the tube change?
Or can the DAC be faulty somehow…
BAckground noise is very low and unoticeable most of the time.
Thank you for sharing your experience with that DAC.
Stephane
