Looking for a good DAC/Amp for LCD-2?

so, i'm planning on getting a pair of LCD-2s, and i was wondering what a good DAC/Amp for it would be.

hopefully under $500, but i'd be willing to pay a bit more if it's really worth it

also, i heard that they're a bit dark with the stock cable, is it really worth it to get that ALO one?

thanks for the help!

The two that come to mind around that price range are the Yulong D100 and the Nuforce Icon HDP.

Haven't heard too many dac/amps (outside of the iBasso D10) in that price range for much time, but if you can stretch the budget the CEntrance DACmini works pretty well.

As for the cables, I'd personally advise to stick with the stock cables and see if you find them to dark or not.  I personally use a Q-Audio aftermarket cable and have the older 8-wire ALO cable, but you'll find about as many opinions on cables, their value, and their characteristics as there are opinions on soft drinks.  One of the local head-fiers over here preferred the stock cable to the ALO cable I have, which I found interesting, but can't fault either.

well, after doing some research, I may opt for a Miniwatt n3 hooked up to a seperate DAC
any ideas on that? oh, and I will stick with the stock cables for now

I listened to the LCD-2 / HDP combo extensively, and found it rather excellent indeed.

The HDP is fantastic value for money, a great performer.
