essence stx with hd 650, what else do i need

ok have xonar essence stx and sennhieser hd 650, do i need a sepperate amp to run these, do i need a sepperate dac if so why and how would i conect this to the pc would it connect to the card, budget of about 400-500 euro for both if needed, it sounds great at the moment but after reading on here i feel im not expierencing the full potential of these cans, im a total new comer here and any advice ive gotten has been priceless thanks to every one.

I use an xonar essence st to run my HD650s.  I have however changed the stock opamps in favour of using some Burson discrete opamps.

 

Although stock in my opinion was pretty good, the opamp change really makes a very difference to the sound.

 

In terms of needing an amp ... I don't think you really "need" one ... but in your price range you might want to look at the Burson HA160 headphone amp ...
