I recently purchased the SE-DIR800C through Amazon, and I'm still waiting for them arrive to see for myself how it sounds with the supplied headphones, as well as my own Sennheisers--but what I've been reading pretty much everywhere is that a) it lacks "oomph" in the bass end for movies (I'm not a bass head for music, I like it punchy, but for movies it's a little different) and b) it has trouble powering the higher end/Ohm headphones.

I'm not looking to spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars to amp this (or else I would have simply bought a Denon receiver), or color the sound in any extreme way, but I am looking for a simple solution to the power needs as well as bass amplification.

My initial thoughts were the Fiio E9 for amplification and then the Fiio E7 for the bass boost.  Would this work, or would it add signal noise/distortion to the Dolby Headphone processing?  Right now I have a pair of old HD 280 pro that I still prefer for movies (yeah, I know...) and my 595s for everything else.  I may end up looking for another set specifically for movies, but I'm not sure what I need (another topic), but I'll most likely still need better amplification.  Any help would be much appreciated.
