When I buy a used HD650. How can I tell it is an old version or the new version? Thanks

There you go :

And I agree that on my 2011 version there's no veil to speak of. It's easily more detailed than my pair of DT 1350 out of a feeble TTVJ Slim. Although it doesn't push those details forward.

Could be my DAC/amp combo [Musical Fidelity V-DAC/Matrix M-Stage].... but to any of you out there with reserves of getting these headphones because of "veil"...don't let this myth hold you back!

The veil doesn't refer to details. It refers to brightness. That said, you should have noticed right away how bright a Grado is compared to the HD650.

Very best,

When comparing the HD650s to the HD600s, you can definitely tell there's a veil, but its not really that bothersome.
