Amp for Hifiman HE-500?

I have a PPA amp I bought in sometime in 2004 that seems to still work fine and was wondering if this should be adequate for the HE-500 (has not arrived yet)? Im using the PPA with the K701 at the moment and it sounds fine though since its the only amp I have had I have no idea what I might be missing.

 

Any suggestions would be great. Also I wasn't sure if I should post here or in portable...if possible I'd like to get a smaller amp but not at the cost of quality.

I have not heard the Ibasso PB2/DB2 combo, but i could be heading in the direction soon. Right now i run my HE500's out a CEntrance DACmini and they sound really good. But having the option of tuning the sound with the PB2 is a big plus and its Balanced. Im currently waiting on a reply from Jamato8, who has both the SR-71B and PB2 portable amps. He has HE500's so he will hopefully give me a good comparison in which way to move. I will quote here what he PM's me, might be able to help you out a little.

I need an "all-in-one" amp.  But see my post above and let's stay focused on the topic.

After reviewing the responses to my other related posts... it appears that the best "all-in-one" amp options for the HE500's and my other dynamic phones, which is <$1,000 are:

 

1.  Vioelectric V200, or V181

2.  Beta 22

3.  EF5

 

There may be some Audio-gd amps also, but the ones above in that order appear to be the best overall fit. 

 

The Lyr is not an option because it will not drive my other dynamic phones well, because of its overwhelming power output - though, it would likely have been my choice for an amp to be dedicated only to my HE500's. 

 

So... I'll likely be giving one of these a try.
