What will you be plugging them into?  If a PC, you don't need to worry about volume control, just use your media player's control.

You might be interested in a passive preamp. I don't know what the market is like for those, but it's pretty easy to build a small box with jacks and a potentiometer. Maybe $30-$40 if you did it yourself. The DIY Forum could help you through a build.

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume > Place volume icon in the taskbar

i'll be plugging them into a PC, i know that i could use the windows volume control, but with my old medusa 5.1 i had an ampli on the desk and that was a lot faster and confortable when playing games or movies.

what is a passive preamp? ..i was looking for a cmoy but there are so many models :(

Radioshack has an in-line volume control for less than $10.  I have 2 of these, very handy.
