AccurateRip not configured.. means worse SQ?

I have recently started going down the route of re-ripping my CD library and downloaded EAC. (I don't want to pay for dbpoweramp) AccurateRip apparently needs to be configured with 3 CDs in that are in their database file. Thing is I have "remastered" and "different version" CDs of the possible "Key CDs" and I can't set up AccurateRip. I have a few CDs that are in the AccurateRip database but they're different versions. -_-

Ok, I haven't set up AccurateRip and I'm in no position to buy "Key CDs". Will not using AccurateRip worsen SQ when I use EAC to rip flac from my CDs?

thanks

JoonBug

EDIT: I could probably look for "Key CDs", but I need help.

AccurateRip has Zip Zero Nada Nothing to do with sound quality of Rips. AccurateRip is a database of the results of zillions of rips of millions of albums. After you rip something it compares your results to those in AccurateRip and lets you know if the Rip you just got is accurate based on the data it has collected. It can only do this is it has been setup properly which requires having a few discs that are in it's database.

There are so many many many discs in AccurateRip that can be used to setup your copy of EAC with your CD/DVD drive it is hard to believe you can't find three. You must be a pirate who buys nothing. If you have friends maybe beg or borrow. Or just deal with not knowing.

Are you trying to help me or insult me?

Thanks for the clarification about AccurateRip, I guess I'll ignore that particular feature from now on until I get three Key CDs.

Now about calling me a pirate: uh if I were a pirate I wouldn't want to rip pirated CDs via EAC, would I? No point then.
Thing is I'm temporarily staying in another country and took about 40 CDs with me, most of them classical recordings that aren't recognized by AccurateRip. I have the Titanic and South Pacific OST, as well as the Blue Album (1967-1970) by the Beatles, and these are on the list. However only the South Pacific CD was counted (tried it yesterday) and the others were not counted because they were different versions and whatnot. Idk what's the problem, I put in those CDs that I earned with my money. It just doesn't work and I was hesitant about ripping as I'd likely do it again for the "best" sq.

Thanks for the help, but stop hating and chill dude. Peace?

Actually, when I started converting my collection to a lossless format, I started with all my Asian music since I had a lot more Chinese CDs than English. AccurateRip didn't have any of them. Haha.

I use dbPoweramp to rip these days and having AccurateRip configured properly rewards you with faster rip times if the disc you are ripping is in the database and the first (fast) pass finds the results matching AccurateRip. If the disc isn't in AccurateRip then it does a multiple read on each track and really slows things down. I am not sure if this occurs in EAC as well. I ripped 1200 discs with EAC configured via the magic settings passed down from the elders. It was time consuming and mildly painful. dbPoweramp has features that make it well worth the cost. Album art, multiple database sources including Musicbrainz, batch processing as well as many useful addons. It's just silly to waste time with that old warhorse that is EAC. But yeah, save big money. Everyone knows God prefers EAC.

As far as the pirate comment goes, please forgive me. I guess I may have jumped to a conclusion .

In the future I'll say "You must be a pirate, or worse yet a classical or Asian music fan".  ;)

It's all good bro. Speaking of, I did haggle a couple of my friends for their Rolling Stones CDs which finally solved the AccurateRip problem. biggrin.gif It seems any CD that is pressed in a different country has enough of a difference (idk where) that AccurateRip doesn't count it as a Key CD. I found only CDs pressed in the US or certain parts of Europe (not Holland, for ex) work. Therefore, I conclude that....

AccurateRip is RACIST!!!! It won't accept CDs printed in Asia, Africa, or South America, because of prejudices against Asian, Black, or Hispanic CDs. angry_face.gif Along with webcams that don't follow African faces and cameras that always ask if Asians are blinking, this program is part of a growing trend of inhumane discrimination becoming evident in modern tech.
