About $1000 to bulit system (CDP or ND-S1 with DAC)

Greetings!

I have a Grado RS2i and a Grado RA1(DC),and I connect these two to a Sony PCM-M10.

There is some extra money about $1000  to upgrade my system.

But I am confused to choose from getting a CDP or using a dac.

If use a dac, I'd like to buy a iPOD classic,Onkyo ND-S1,and Simaudio Moon 100D DAC or Schiit  Bifrost.

If use a CDP,I'd like to buy a Marantz SA8004.

But I am confused that what level should SA8004's DAC be? Is it better than Moon 100D DAC or Schiit Bifrost?

I often listen to some classic music.

Could someone give me some suggestions?

Thanks for reading and reply.

The SA 8004 is a SACD/CD Player. So it carries a bigger price tag than just a CD Player. Also Made in Japan

If your not getting SACDs you might want something else.

Although the SA 8004 can also be used as a DAC with a USB cord to a computer.

You can also use a usb stick in front for a mp3s.

The Marantz is considered a pretty high quality DAC.

But where the Marantz really shines is with a speaker setup a lot more than a headphone setup in my experience with the CD 5004.

But I'm sure it goes toe to toe with other Dacs maybe better ?

Thanks a lot.

Many usage of the Marantz SA8004 fascinates me very much, and I also have some SACDs.This is why I consider SA8004 for my system.

If I use Dacs for my headphone system, I have to purchase some sets to built a system.

What confuses me most is that are the DACs of nuforce HDP,Moon 100D DAC,Onix DAC25A  better than the DAC of SA8004?

Thanks again.

I've heard some people say the Marantz DAC can go up against very pricey stand alone DACs.

But I really can't say for sure.

I guess you could always try buying from a place with good return policy like Crutchfield you could test drive the Marantz and see if it works for you and if not return it.

Thanks.

I know a shop which can offer SA8004  to listen.

Maybe I had better to go there and just listen.
