Weird problem, not sure where this belongs

Not sure if this should go here, sorry.

I tried to hook up my PS2 to watch a movie to either my NAD amp or my parents' Sony amp and I just couldn't get any sound to come out. Ok, there was no sound out of the Sony at all, and with the NAD if I put it at 100% max volume, I could hear a TINY bit of sound. What's the beef? I tried running the ps2 rca cables straight to my amps. No good. Ran the ps2 to my tv and then used the tv's audio outs to my amp. No good! I'm stumped.

Check the settings on your PS2 maybe you turned off the outputs? Just a guess, have you tried hooking up the digital output to the receivers digital in?

Hm, no such feature on the ps2 I'm aware of. Basically, if I run the cables from the ps2 to my tv, I get sound out of the tv, but if I run the cables from the ps2 to an amp, I get nothing. There are no digital outputs on the PS2 and the sony is really old, I doubt it has digital in.

PS2 has optical out. Dunno if that helps at all...have you tried running it through a receiver somehow?

just for the heck of it check the tape monitor switch to make sure it is off

if that is right then check to make sure you have the color codes correct

RED=right

WHITE=left

YELLOW=video

and finally make sure the speaker selector is to speaker A (or whatever you have the speakers connected to)

sounds simple but it is often the little things overlooked

The NAD is an integrated, right?

If you're getting a tiny bit of sound out of your NAD, you probably didn't have the right input selected.

Yeah, try that too.

Thanks guys.

1. Going to and from church, I figured out that I should probably check the tape monitor status. Yup, that was the problem with the NAD!! Boy am I a moron.

2. The Sony still doesn't work
