[IEM Repair] Questions

Well I finally found the pair of IEMs that were confiscated four years ago by my father as well as my Cowon D2.  Unfortunately I've been noticing a few problems:

A) After  playing for about three minutes, one of the earphones gets abnormally hot (above skin temperature)

B) Plugging into source (S9) causes extremely loud static/popping sounds independent of the player's volume

C) I've noticed that sometimes a channel dies out when I push the strain relief the wrong way

I'm considering replacing the plug, but would adding a jack be the same as headphones (L,R,G)?  Also do you think it would help with cases A or B above?

Thanks

The plug should be the same.

For (C): There propably is a crack in the cable inside the IEM, you would have to open it and solder a new cable ( I don't know if it's possible ) or do you mean the strain relief in the plug?
