Can Fiio E9 drive Hifiman HE-6?

By 'drive' I mean can it make it go louder than you can stand to listen to without making the dial on the amp go all the way clockwise? And can it do that without destroying the HE-6's drivers by clipping and distortion?

Never mind about synergy or whether or not the E9 gets the maximum possible sonic potential from the headphone for the moment...

Um, didn't you ask that question already not too long ago?  As a refresher, the answer is yes.

^sorry, I do not understand. Is that an affirmative to the 2nd part question, or the 1st of the OP?

If yes to the 1st, can u provide a link to other users direct experiences? I find that hard to believe. I suppose "louder than you can stand" is relative...should post up a youtube link to those dumb **** guys, with no ear plugs; sitting in pickup trucks and SPL contest winner 'wall' of subs, lmfao.

Yes, I've tried and it owns them on high gain.

So, on high gain setting, the Fiio E9 can drive the Hifiman HE-6 louder than you would be sane to listen to for extended periods without having to turn the volume knob all the way clockwise?

I guess it would also depend on how loud the line-level signal from your DAC was - are we using an iPod line-out dock for a reference?

Also, even if the E9 is able to drive the HE-6 loud - is it producing masses of clipping which is wrecking the voice coil of the HE-6 in the process?
