My speakers will be 6ft and 10ft from amp. Do I make them same length to match impedance?

The way the equipment will be setup in my bedroom is the right speaker (Wharfedale Diamond 10.1) will be between 5ft and 6ft from the Yamaha amp, while the left speaker ideally will be about 10ft away to the left of my tv.  (Right speaker will be to right of tv, left of my computer).

Have been told I should make two identically long 10ft runs so the impedence matches between both speakers.  Is this correct?

It should not matter if you use sufficient gauge cable.  Standard 16 gauge should be perfectly fine and the difference in length (and even a 10' length overall) is so small that it makes no significant impact on the overall impedance of the speaker.

^ Agree, the extra 4' of cable will make no difference.  There are likely bigger channel imbalances in your system (think tolerances on the resistors and other components), which are still inaudible.
