ONEAC for Stax 313 amp

Hello, I'm interested in getting a ONEAC power conditioner for my system as I attempt to get my blacks as black as Biggie's awesome system.

How 'big' of a power conditioner would I need for this amp? Would a 1A conditioner be enough?

If by one amp you mean the PC will be able to supply that much power to the items plugged into it, that means you can plug an amp into it as long as the amp draws 120 watts (one amp)or less, off the wall. Have you looked at the specs on your amp and checked out how much power it requires to operate at full power? If its less than 120 watts then you will be O.K.
1 amp = 120 watts
Does this help any?

The oneac didn't make my systems blacks any blacker. It was my power cords and most importantly my active interconnects..

so what did the oneac do, other than make your system look even more bizarre and esoteric?

i'll try out that stuff at your meet, and if I really do notice the IC's make that much of a difference I guess I'll have to shell out for a pair of them.

TomHankins, the amp draws 29watts. Is that enough headroom to use that conditioner then?

29 watts isn't much, it's not much more than my cdp.

Then if the PC can supply the one amp you will have no problem.

Oneac offers great protection, clean power and doesn't limit dynamics like a power bar.

Biggie, which model ONEAC do you own and what is the approximate cost?

See my profile for details. I paid around $10 + shipping for each. I'm told oneacs 1103 and above offer more filtering then the smaller ones. Of course shipping isn't cheap on these things. :P

Sorry for the stupid question, but... what is an ONEAC actually?
I am interested in very cheap solutions for better (cleaner and better protected) power supply...

Do a search on eBay and you'll find out all about them. Very cheap and very good power conditioner. A 6 amp version can generally be had for around $30, and they sold for something like $250+ when new.

Yes, it would work. It would be nicer to get at least a 3 amp version that would allow you to hook in your source and any other nearby components and allow for future expansion.

If all you want is to power the Stax amp, this unit is adequate and will do the job current wise. Whether it makes enough of an impact due to the lesser filtering than the 3amp+ versions I don't know. If it's cheap enough it might be worth the money to give it a try.

Get as high as you can. I have a 1120. This is a 16 amp system which really filters the sound nicely. The blacks are MUCH blacker with this unit. Mine was 120 shipped NIB, usually retails for 2500. The deals are certainly out there. I woudl reco at least a 6 amp version.

What about DIY? Can you direct me to a few projects that would cost no more than $50 - 60 in parts? I am interested to use a power conditioner with the Mackie active monitors I will receive in about three weeks, but I know basically nothing about power conditioners, I only know the power suply in Bucharest in of low quality, with interruptions or lower voltage from time, etc. and I thought it would be a good idea to use such a device. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks!
