DAC Help

Hello all,

I've decided to set up a decent office rig, mainly used for a speaker setup and since I'm pretty much clueless about computer-based audio, I would like your suggestion for the DAC(s) I should consider.  My requirements are few:  Small in size, as space is limited; must be able to take in a USB connection from the computer and be priced south of $500.

Basically, what I've done is purchased an external hard drive to upload my music using Apple lossless and I've got a pair of Quad 11l active's on their way.  So I need something to go in between the computer and speakers.  I'll not be able to do anything to the computer, as it's an office computer.

The DACs I've considered so far are the Cambridge dacmagic, PS Audio DAC and I think I saw another small-sized on (can't recall the brand right now).  I really like the idea of the dacmagic's ability to stand on its side, but I can use a regular sized DAC to replace the CDP which I'll no longer be using (the CDP also doubles as a monitor stand so the DAC can do that, too).  But here's a question:  Do most DACs come with a USB input, or is that limited to a select few that's generally used with computer related audio?

So...any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
