I would check out some KRKs, they are one of the top brands in my opinion. The KRK RP5G2 might be in your price/size range. I'm actually planning to get a bigger size of the same model.

 

 

Off Topic: Whats your current setup look like? My DAW is Ableton Live and I've got an akai mpk49, presonus audiobox usb (new), Fiio e7/e9, and the DT-990s (600-ohms)

I'm on Cubase 6 - Motu 828mk3 Audio Interface (also used as sound card and firewire connected) and DT-880 (600 ohms) and SHURE SRH840
