from jaben's thread in local trading forum :

"The New" Hippo VB is the latest batch of Hippo VB. So the important question is, are there any differences in physically and sound quality wise? The answer is YES! Physically, if you pay more attention to the picture above, you'll see a different rubber tips (Yes, they're the new double-flange). They're more comfortable in your ears and subjectively have better noise isolation. The other physically differences are the more flexible cable and the industrial-grade 3.5mm stereo jack. Now the difference in sound quality are the bass that goes deeper, clearer treble, and an improvement in detail.

I have the revised model boought directly from Jaben Australia.

At first they sounded terrible, super harsh highs with no detail, one track (Yelawolf - Throw it up) in particular sub bass bleed into mids / highs so badly it instantly distorted vocals at any volume level low / med. I was unimpressed everything was really messy. I let them burn in using pink noise and a frequency sweep for 12 hours with 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes, I did notice a slight difference in the sibilance people mentioned after 12 hours but it was still there in bucket loads. I put them away and thought I'd wasted my money, the highs were just too much to handle they were just too hot.

Last night I gave them one last try, I'd been listening about an hour to tracks I knew wouldn't give me sibilance problems, I noticed the highs had calmed down somewhat further so I gave them some decent volume letting them play for another hour. I changed tracks to the original one that gave me trouble, bleeding and distortion had gone like they were a completely different IEM. I was very surprised they could change so much. I couldn't listen to them for more than an hour beforehand, last night I had them going for about 3 hours and really enjoyed the session tinkering with tracks that were almost on edge of un-listenable before. Don't get me wrong, they're still very hot in treble though still continue to imrprove.

I'm still burning, I think 100 hours is a decent amount to start for these. For those that purchase the VB having problems straight out of the box, don't give up on them so early like I almost did. They really do calm down a lot even after 12 - 30 hours of use. I think it's good to post this here for other people looking for this kind of information.
