About to cut my losses with recently purchased Darkvoice 336se...

Thread Starter

I just bought this amp on ebay (from China) and they sent me the 250v version instead of 110v.  I have a 500w 110v to 220v converter that I figured I'd try out before I tried going through the hassle of returning it.  The fuse in the amp blew, it's 1a, 250v.  I tried replacing it, it blew again.  I tried a 5a, 250v fuse just to see (no headphones plugged in) and the fuse in the converter blew this time! blink.gif

I've tried a couple different tubes in the amp as well, I have no idea if that would make a difference but figured I'd give it a shot.

Is there a solution to this I'm not seeing?  I'm not very electrically inclined so obviously I'm at a loss.  I'm going to have to return this if someone can't tell me what could be going on here.

Thanks in advance!

I think that there is a good chance that you ruined the amp by bypassing the fuse protection with a fuse that 5 times greater than the original and you could have a fire and the converter could also be ruined. In USA 220v means two hot 120 lines and a ground like the circuit to the dryer. In other counties 250v may be just one hot 250, neutral and a ground. You need to work with the seller and found out what options you may have. It is time to stop fooling around. Here is a example on this web page.

"All products are custom made with proper 240v power supplies. Don't be fooled by overseas sellers, their Darkvoice products are "220-240v" and won't run correctly on Australia's 240v.

Me neither, that's why I leave the experimenting to the professionals. You should disclose to the seller the fact you might have caused damage to the amp.
