Sigh, few decent Japanese CD stores in Vancouver. At least there were some in Seattle whenever I went...Plenty of fantastic record and hi-fi shops here though biggrin.gif

Need websites of the Hi-Fi stores!!! The only store I go to right now is headphonebar

The first album is probably their most progressive sound. Everything after was a bit more mature, especially afterwards they leaned towards their pop sensibilities. The natural progression for getting into their music would be either - SFIGF - Air Feel Color Swim - Prog-Roid - Rift-Rain. Maybe amp-reflection, but it's really split both ways. On one side, you have arguably their best songs (Futuristic Imagination, Butterfly Swimmer, Light Prayer) along with some of their usual, proggy, alternative stuff (Percentage; Densha, Suberiochiru, Headphone; line (google the lyrics for this, stupendously awesome stuff)). The other side, you have mainstream, pop, appeal to the masses stuff. This was their first album with a major label (Sony) though, so it makes sense. If I could, I'd buy half of the CD.

Speaking of good old days, I still have a Terresa Teng album In the car.

Bow to the queen of C-Pop, people. This is where it all started (well, for me)

Hifi Centre (they had Denons, demo pairs of the Dx000 for sale at half price), Element Acoustics (held the meet on January, I didn't go though). Did I see you at Headphone Bar before? I go there very, very often (2-3 a week during the summer, otherwise once or twice a month). Were you there at the meet in September?

The best record stores are always downtown or on Robson. Have to go through Gastown though, so yeah, not for the faint of heart.

Thanks! Hope they don't close during Remembrance Day weekends! You probably haven't see me there, I've been there less than 10 times in total. Sigh.. Missed the September meet because of angry Asian parents and missed CanJam cuz of my friend's Asian parents. Talk about high school life.

Though I'm more bummed out by my favourite band, SFP, disbanding 4 months ago...Yumi, why? I don't have enough money for a plane ticket to go to every time you have a La-La-Larks gig! Can I just say that the entire School Food is Good Food album is a hallmark of Japanese electronic/alternative/dream pop? Okay, I'm biased, but...just listen.

Every Summer break, for the last 4 years, this, on repeat the whole day. Word cannot describe how beautiful it was.

And back to the oldies (me and my mother love her)

Duuude, I so miss Faye Wong's music.

Hmmm not much going on here, some random (japanese) drops old and new:

"Hitomitoi - Dive"

For me this is typical japanese arrangement and songwriting.

"Salyu - Dramatic Irony" LIVE

No words needed for Salyu

Yuki - Biscuit (LIVE)

She's really great live, no wonder after so many years in the Business.

Sonomi - 何とかなる

レミオロメン - 南風

My fav song from レミオロメン

M-FLO loves EMYLI & YOSHIKA - Loop In My Heart

older song from m-flo, this is actually a Remix

MINMI - パッと花咲く feat.VERBAL

Salyu X Salyu - Sailing Days (great stuff!)

Kreva - Oh Yeah

Towa Tei - Mind Wall

さかいゆう - SHIBUYA NIGHT featuring TOMOYASU TAKEUCHI

I didn't like Beat Space Nine as much as the other albums tongue.gif. Shibuya Night is a really good song!

Oh, just noticed, but what happened to youtube? When did the new interface thing come in? Looks good IMO. Maybe I'll stop using Feather now.

I've been listening to a lot of j-pop/rock girl band SCANDAL recently.  Many of their songs have that nostalgic feel to it for me.

That band is awesome, I got their live DVD performing at Budokan, it's a joy seeing how they grew over the years, maybe next step is Tokyo Dome

Love it! This style of songwriting/arrangement/production is uniquely Japanese and one of my favorite styles of music. Thanks for sharing it!

I'm considering getting that disc since I've seen a bit of the concert and it looks like a good one.  Only have a couple of CD's so far, but I've watched a few of their live performances available on youtube.  The song HARUKAZE in particular has been a recent favorite.

Pretty much all of Scandal's songs are good.
