Yes, it's hard, I realize.

None of us have said anything about some of the noise you've been contributing lately, I could seriously make better music holding a didgeridoo to my anus. My point is...live and let live, just because it's obscure doesn't make it good.

The reason its called pop is because its popular.

What's up with all these current post-rock shoegaze guitar instrumental bands that sound like they just discovered My Bloody Valentine, Bauhaus, and Cocteau Twins? I wish they would inject some other influences into their music instead of retreading the same musical waters and end up all sounding the same. I guess it's because it's all the similar moody chorus/distortion/phaser effects-chain with similar guitar/bass/drums instrumentation and not much innovation.

To me, that's putting the cart before the horse. I tend to feel the same way about stubbornly experimental cinema and literature, because past a certain threshold, the idea itself isn't worth experiencing anymore if sitting through the execution is just torture (either incessantly harsh and unappealing, or boring and aimless). When a death metal song actually has more appealing musicality than your absurdly wacky experimental noise, you know you've gone too far. :D (Obviously, this is all IMO.)

See, there's a nice, well-thought-out way to put about things....

And then there's the opposite.

In fact, I can't remember why but I had you blocked (well, gee I guess it was warranted after all), and if I hadn't seen sfwalcer's PM, I would have never noticed. Maybe my life would have been a bit better along the way if I hadn't seen it at all. Maybe it would have been better time spent practicing the didgeridoo. Very difficult to get that sphincter to hit the right notes, but practice makes perfect.

But if you don't have the time to articulate a response and feel like you have to respond solely out of intimidation or god knows what, then the feeling's mutual. There's a great feature with ABP - element hiding. Once you have a person blocked, just block that element and you'll never even the indication that anyone on your blocklist had posted. I use it to great effect. Maybe you should try it too.

@ Lunatique - I realize that the unconventional tracks are a turn-off for some but if you twist my arm - I wouldn't say anything this month was too offending. Heck, there was a Godzilla soundtrack in there. So there might be some cherrypicking there. Everyone has their different thresholds though so I don't take it to heart if you find it irritating.

But all in all, I find the sounds interesting and I don't judge the compositions holistically because I realize they are what they are. I take out of it what I enjoy and leave the rest of it alone, pretentious attitude and all. As long as the experience is an interesting one. I understand what you're saying though.

I can enjoy my more "normal" compositions, and I can enjoy these fun little sounds as well, and I can make a reasonable discernment between the two.

Everything else, I'm glad you enjoy. I'm going to continue posting weird things though - partly because I don't have a clear definition on where the threshold between you and me would fall apart and I don't think it should affect anything that I do anyways. The other part - well, there are a couple of like-minded people out-of-the-forums that seem to react rather positively to it.

But (this part isn't actually directed to you so don't worry about it) I have more respect for people than to post 'every single popular song in existence' or 'that newest song that I'm sure people have heard far too much of but I will post anyways in order to seem relevant'. That's not conductive to an open discussion where people can feel free to post everything and anything, especially when it always ends up becoming the exact same thing.

On the other hand; obscurity for the sake of obscurity, or diversity for the sake of diversity isn't cool either. I don't think anyone's trying to do that though. I think the problem is that some people find it hard, at a deeper level, to accept that other people might enjoy other things, and that those things can be enjoyable in the first place.

And if they find that offensive, I would try reading it again, because it's not meant to be.
