I'm helping to move my MIL out to NV to live with her son.  My wife and I just got through clearing out here storage unit, and there are like 5 or 6 boxes of old albums packed full.  I want to send them out there, but don't know how to make sure they will travel well.

Are there any special precautions you need to make when shipping records?  Right now they are in a storage box that is packed tight with albums. Since they are packed so tight, I don't know if that is good or bad for them in shipping.  There is no padding between the records an the box aside from the album sleeves. Are the sleeves enough protection?

Also, since these boxes are probably about 12x12x12, and packed full, they are really heavy.  Any advice on best shipping methods that won't break the bank?
