You cannot use any EAX version higher than 2 on non-Creative hardware. Creative only released EAX 1 and 2 for other manufacturers, which means that onboard audio chips, soundcards with gaming features from other manufacturers (like Asus) can only support up to EAX 2, and literally all external audiophile DACs won't even support gaming features at all, given that they weren't designed for that purpose.

Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro

 

it doesnt support eax

 

but can i use alchemy to enable eax 5

 

i can download alchemy for this card

 

what this for

@tom2011: So, are you still talking about gear you never owned and trying to push software EAX on your onboard audio chip? Is this what it's all about? And FYI, Creative really messed up with their two "Pro" revisions of hardware that worked quite alright, effectively adding issues and crippling features. So the answer is still a resounding no.
