Audiophiles in Dubai? - Page 27

Which Virgin had the grado's for demo? The Emirates mall one refused, but they let me try the OPPO PM-1 (Didn't like it at all, very uncomfortable and didn't sound good).

To be honest, I'd rather have good treble than bass, that's why I didn't like the LCD-2 when I borrowed them from a friend, and also they're very uncomfortable :basshead:

I hear that vocals on HD800 sound electronic, but I didn't really notice that when listening to them.

So many people here have great and interesting gear, we should definitely have a meet soon.

In mall of emirates indeed
Maybe they got annoyed after the oppo demo
Even if they have always been kind with me

Hahaha yeah maybe, the guy wasn't even sure he was allowed to let me demo them, even though they were open and on display in a glass case.

I'll visit again on Monday, hope to try out some grado's by then.

Yeah OTL amp with Audeze will be stupid, makes no sense.

For Audeze I think Burson Conductor or Schiit Mjolnir is perfect for it.

we have the same issue but my purcahse will be in the next 6 months biggrin.gif

LCD - 3 / best mids / vocals in the business, precise extending highs plus you get great bass and separation and sound stage.

HD800 / Best sound stage separation imaging, uncolored highs, mids and bass.

WA7d is expensive with a bad dac included "but they look good lol" try and read about bottle head crack with speed ball "$350 to 400 on the for sale/ trade forum" or make your own if your have the skills. Much less $$$ then WA7d plus tubes wil be cheaper on the bottle head crack tube roll till you find what you like. Money saved on the WA7 vs bottle head crack buy a good DAC.

bottle head crack will be my 1st amp for the hd800 if money is an issue if not zana deux se for my dream amp

but still not sold on the HD800 biggrin.gif

Just my thoughts and my opinion since we have the same dilemma

Hey guys selling my Schiit Lyr II + three set of tubes, default tubes and very very very rare tubes too

one of them is Ranked #6 in the Lyr ii thread

"#6 1974 Gray Shields - Very nice tube.  Liquid mid range, sweet tonality.  A slight reduction in the ultimate detail retrieval and sound stage width and depth. Good bass."

and the other one is ranked #1 which did cost me 290$ alone.

"

#1 1975 Gray Shields - Supreme detail, coupled with this magical flow or liquidity to the music...just draws you in.  I try to read while listening to my headphones.  These just make you drop the book and turn the volume up.  Sit back and enjoy the ride as they sweep you away.  Rich textured tone, deep extended tight bass...Who said the HD800 have wimpy bass!  Not with these.  Sound stage - surround sound, reflected sounds actually project behind you!  As well as wall to wall and 30 ft deep in front, with tons of air blooming from each instrument.  The effect enhanced by closing your eyes.  I did this last night...for 4 hours!  Dead quite, zero floor noise, the incredible details just project from inky blackness...you really notice this at the end of songs as they fade into this deep black silence.  The next track re-emerging, building, as you forget how high you've set the volume!  Never harsh or brittle - and here is the magic, even at higher volume levels.  Levels that would have you diving, on most other non-Super V-R tubes, to turn down as the etch becomes annoying.

With the sweet nature of these tubes, it allows you to add this additional volume, the sound becomes enveloping.  You're really projected into a different venue.  What the high end headphone experience is all about!"

so yes i am adding these two above tubes with the Lyr II and the HD800 with these are legendary epic, its not around for sale i guess i am the owner of the last pair of these in head-fi, i told Rb2 to sell me extra pair but its not easy to get these.

so why am i selling such a legendary setup? i am going for a Schiit Ragnarok,  TBH Shciit company became very very good if not in top 3.

The asking price is 2500 AED , the shipping is express and on me.

i've sold many items in UAE too, including WA7 + EH tubes , Hugo Chord and Audio-GD Master 9, all in this thread, i rather see my rare items being enjoyed here in this thread ^^.

Oh, that's pretty cool. In my opinion, the LCD-3's are great, but not THAT great for a 1000 dollars more than the LCD-2. I'm only considering them if I can find them on sale used at a lower price.

Both headphones have their benefits, that's what makes it so hard. :'(
