in SQ terms which one to buy?

Don't know about the CK4. But the HM-601 is a nice player. I also like the HiSound Audio Studio-V (my primary source).

The Hisound Audio V seems to be a bit above the HM-601 in terms of SQ, and is quite smaller. The UI on both is very...basic, so it won't matter a lot. The Hisound has a much better battery life though, if it helps you decide.

Yeah, I like my STUDIO-V. The only problem is, it's $450.

I strongly suggest that you read some of the 'unhappy camper' comments re the HM-601 on the Amazon page:

http://www.amazon.com/HiFiMAN-HiFiMan-HM-601-Portable-Player/dp/B004DHOHYQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310095615&sr=1-1

Sure, any product will have its share of potential glitches, but 'exquisite sounding piece of junk' mirrors a lot of the complaints made about various HiFiMan earphones and I think it comes down to patchy quality control. Given that Apple have had 'bad batches' in their iPod line, I'm not singling out HiFiMan : just want you to go in with both eyes open.
