I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...

Sennheiser HD-598s are the most comfortable headphones I've had the opportunity to use. I recommend these wholeheartedly for any first-time hi-fi buyer because of their excellent soundstage and...

Beats out the Bose Triport, the HD 202 and HD 435s, the AT M35 and AT M50. Just try it and see. Extremely comfortable (I wear mine while commuting and studying, for about 5+ hours a day). Bought...

Don't know about the CK4. But the HM-601 is a nice player. I also like the HiSound Audio Studio-V (my primary source).

The Hisound Audio V seems to be a bit above the HM-601 in terms of SQ, and is quite smaller. The UI on both is very...basic, so it won't matter a lot. The Hisound has a much better battery life though, if it helps you decide.

I strongly suggest that you read some of the 'unhappy camper' comments re the HM-601 on the Amazon page:
Sure, any product will have its share of potential glitches, but 'exquisite sounding piece of junk' mirrors a lot of the complaints made about various HiFiMan earphones and I think it comes down to patchy quality control. Given that Apple have had 'bad batches' in their iPod line, I'm not singling out HiFiMan : just want you to go in with both eyes open.
