Please Help - Can't Tell If Speakers are Blown

Hi everyone, I would really appreciate your help for this issue.

I just purchased a pair of Audioengine A5s.  While setting them up with Airport Express, they very briefly blasted EXTREMELY loudly because I had the volume turned up.  In the two seconds before I could turn it down I heard some very harsh noises.  Afterwards, I started noticing a slight buzz/crackling from the tweeters.  With the music turned down very low, I can hear it from several feet away.

I don't know if I am just being paranoid and this buzz has always been there, or if I have actually damaged the speakers in some way.  I don't really hear any distortion in the music.  How can I tell if the speakers are ok?

It would not be very hard for me to exchange them, just requires a little lugging again, no extra cost.  Should I go with that option just to be safe, and to put to rest my worries for the future?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you can't tell that it's blown, then great. It's not.

Believe me, if it's blown, you'll notice.

That said, the crackling sounds like it's blown. Why don't you think it's blown? Sounds blown to me.
