Hifiman HE-4 orthodynamic headphones
Will Ship To: Anywhere
Original owner of these Hifiman HE-4. Purchased late March 2011 for $450 + shipping from Head-Direct.
Used a couple hours per day from April to June. Then came the LCD-2.
Condition is pretty much as I got them. They came with some light scuff on leather but that tells me it was manufactured by hand.
Comes with all original accessories: cables, case, extra earpad, etc.
Selling for $ which includes shipping USPS to anywhere in the US. So that's about 25% discount over buying new. If that's fair contact me. If not, no problem, I'm not willing to go lower at this point, down the road, maybe. International buyers will have to pay the actual costs to their location. I will declare the full cost of the item for your customs. Based on past experience claiming the item as a gift or undervaluing leads to more delay.
I am including some $40 Hiflight speaker taps so all you will need is a balanced cable and you can hook up the HE-4 to speaker amp. The taps do not affect the price. It's a bonus so taking them away will not decrease the price.
Remember, the HE-4 requires a lot of juice. I use the Schiit Lyr or a vintage Sansui amplifier with an uber strong headphone out. Checkout the vintage receivers thread to see which vintage amps/receivers can drive the orthos. I preferred the HE-4 to the HD650s. However, an underpowered HE-4 is no better than any properly driven dynamic headphone. HE-4 has a V-shaped response curve. I find that the HE-4 works great with tube amps and Mullard tubes.
Why sell? I use the LCD-2 more. The HE-4 you will get are 100% fully functional, no issues. I'm not organized enough to use two very good cans so I guess I'm a one can guy for home and one IEM for portable.
Not really looking for any trades other than say RE-272 IEM + cash.
