aww crap. so it looks like i will have to go back to the ipod classic?

There is nothing wrong with listening to Zune or iPod on the go, a budget DAC isn't to make a whole lot of difference either. If you are using Skullcandies on with them, that is your weakest link right there. You can have all the fancy stuffs but they will be just as good as your weakest link.

The Aviators aren't the best but they are up there with some of the name brand audio equipment. I know it's not the best but I think the weakest link is the Zune.

 

also can someone point me in the direction of a analog out grubDAC. what are the parts needed from mouser.

I don't understand.   The only output on the GrubDAC is analog.
