Subwoofers <$100 compatible with Yamaha A-S500 Integrated Amplifier

I don't know even if I need a sub or not.  Just bought this Yamaha amp to power some Polk Audio Rti-A3 bookshelf speakers & considering adding a sub.  Mostly going to use setup for music from my MacBook Pro, but also Tv & Blu-ray at times.  The Yamaha has a single RCA-type output but so far the subs I've looked at have dual-RCA inputs so I am a bit confused.  I've also seen listed on Amazon.com something called LFE cables (singles).  Is it possible someone here can help me clear the fog (#1) and then find a sub under $100 (#2)?

you need to look for an active sub-woofer - at $99.99 the PSW10 seems a good deal (have not heard it).

I think you can use a single mono RCA cable from the amp (Sub-out) to the white(L) rca line-in connection of the Sub. (someone else maybe able to explain it further)

...or you could try this way, but you do have a line output, and is more complex and probably worse sounding.
