Help! Need to find some speakers =>$200 to $250 for bedroom system off Onkyo int. amp

I am going to look into going this route.  Found a nice used Onkyo 8255 integrated amp around $100.  This got me thinking.  Was going to spend $300 to $400 for a powered active speaker system but I am used to more traditonal ways and if I can find a respectably sounding pair of passive speakers (probably used at those prices) might go this way.  I think the Onkyo puts out 50 watts into 8 ohms and they say they'll drive also 6 ohm and 4 ohm speakers.  Very open to some suggestions of brands & models.
