Bought some cans.

I wanted to be able to listen to music at night without disturbing everyone else. So I bought some cans.

Panasonic-HTX7

Monster Beats Studio

AKG K240
Denon DNHP1000

I would like to give a review comparing them all. Its just to early to tell and I am still deciding on a amp.

Currently Denons sound the overall best out of the group but none have fully broke in yet.

I will say the first set of AKGs I got didn't even work so I had to return them.

Only thing I can really talk about in depth right now is how the feel on your head

Panasonics- Fit snug on head but cups are quite small and get kind of tight and slightly squeeze your ears. Headphones are not very heavy but aren't to comfortable.

Denons- The headphones press against the ear and are annoying at first. The Headphones are very heavy but seem to be pretty comfortable after wearing them for a while.

Beats- They are pretty comfortable and fit good on your head. They dont really press on your ears and seem to not be to bothersome. They are the second heaviest of this group but its really not to bad.

Akgs- Am I even wearing these? They are very light and the pads on them are very big and very cushioned. They were by far the most comfortable fit out of this group.

Ill try to compare SQ later on after I get a better amp and some more time with them all.

Yeah... beats are not accepted here at all.

Good job on getting the AKG K240

I can't say much after them, the others aren't worth it

Yup this forum hates beats. I paid 129 direct from monster for them. And they do sound good. Also the denons at least so far sound better than the AKG headphones. But I also am still waiting on a real amp. All I have now is a harman Kardon reciever powering it all.

Then I see what your SQ review will be

I see that you don't know the AKG K240 are the better sounding headphones in the bunch, Denon next (thought I don't remember them that well), and beats next, then Panasonic (those sucked)

I power all my headphones out of my receiver. I even tested a pair of Sony MDR-R10's from my trusted Sony Receiver, though I did mod my receiver

The panasonic do sound the worse it was the first I got because they were cheap and I thought they looked cool.

I am very impressed with the AKGs for the price they seem to be the best deal out of what I got. They just dont have the bass the denons have. And also seem to require to get as loud. Could be cause they are semi-open. though.

On accoustic music the akg's sound very good.

If you wanted value, you should had got a pair of Fostex T50RP, mine are worth well over $500 at the moment in SQ.

I real hate the "return the beats" I hear so much here.  Everyone here seems to hate on them and I bet 80% of you haven't heard them outside of the store.

That's because most of us wont invest the price they want for the quality you get,  to get them out of the store.  I have heard them out of the store, although I did not own that pair, once again because of the price they want for them.

Guys...he paid $129 for the Beats. For that price, they're a good enough value (they're foldable, don't look ridiculous in public, and, well, sound FUN.) as long as they don't snap. Don't listen to the Beats haters, they're just...yeah. I'm honestly willing to say I don't mind the Beats. Heck, I'd probably buy a pair for kicks if I had money to spare.

And you don't like the K240? Weird. They're pretty groovy sounding. I take it you prefer a V shaped sound though, which is reasonable, but the K240's won't give that to you. They're all about mids, for the most part.

So about the K240's I moved the headphones off my computer and into the jack on my klipsch promedia speakers i have hooked up to my tv. And ran pandora from my tv app. The sound difference is amazing. I actually really like the K240s now. The Klipsch pro-media speakers much have a much better system for headphones then other 2.1 speaker systems.

The beats, for $129, is a good deal, i think they are worth that.

On the other hand, like what BotByte said, the Fostex were a real steal (well, i bought one based on his/her advice).  $76 + shipping, and the sound quality is so silky smooth.  The cables gave me problems right away, but seemed to not be a problem at all after using the phones for a while.

When amped properly, I am preferring my Fostex T50Rp over my Westone 3s.

Well $129 might be a somewhat reasonable price for them.  I still however think I'd go for a pair of M50's in that range.  Were those refurbs?
