What's the difference between the DT990 Pro and DT990 Premium?

I searched and searched, and I'm sure there's a thread somewhere about this, but I can't find it.

The DT990 Pro (250ohm) is available at my local music store for 199.99

The DT990 Premium (250) is only available via Ebay or other such websites (here in Canada anyways) for 300ish.

Why the massive price difference? There must be some tangible difference right?

I expect to pay 300 plus for quality headphones, so why the heck is the pro version so cheap?

Does the same apply for the DT880?

Officially, the only differences (besides looks) between the 880 and 990 pros and premiums is that the pros clamp a little harder.  Some people say this reduces the soundstage a bit and increases the bass a bit.  I've never really a chance to compare them side by side though.

The 770s are different.  The pro and premium versions are tuned different and each model has its own sound.

So, is it just weird Canadian pricing? what makes the pro versions so darn cheap. It seems that their build quality is slightly better too.

They were priced that way here in the States the last time I checked.  Maybe Beyer is just charging more for the prettier ones, at least in the 990's case.  The 880 pro doesn't look to bad, the 990 pro is fugly though.
