Yeah well, I lump him in with Digital Underground, too.  biggrin.gif

Sorry, not a fan of his lyrical content, no matter how it was delivered.

Nujabes, Force of Nature, Jedi Mind Tricks, Shing 02.

Listen to "Ristorante Mixtape - Side A" a compilation of various artist and DJ's from god knows how long ago and you'll be amazed at the beauty of the track.

My favorite hip hop group ever is Common Market.  They're clean, have great beats, and rap about topics other than drugs, sex, partying.  Here's one of their songs:

Thanks. Some of the stuff I have been trying out seems like it has a mandatory obscenity content.

This will often be the case but not necessarily. Hip Hop is a wide ranging genre with many tiny pockets, with much listening you are sure to find your niche. Pandora would be a fine start if you have some artists in mind that intrigue you. The music itself typically relies on a repetitive form of looping and sampling, which refuses to bore the ear when done well. Also keep in mind the genre tends to hold a fair load of garbage, so consider sifting and digging mandatory. No easy exploration, but will surely reward.
