Hard Headphone Case for Sennheiser HD?

Hi,

I recently bought some Sennheiser HD598s and I transport them from home to work and back every day. I keep them in my backpack so they are relatively safe, but I would like some peace of mind that a hard-case would bring me.

The Hippocase is perfect for my needs, but I've been having trouble finding a good seller and they are a bit too expensive ($50-$60).

Note: I've been searching on the forum and a lot of suggestions for cases are usually soft-bags that wouldn't really offer much more protection than my backpack. Also, a lot of links people provided are no longer functioning! So sorry if this thread seems unnecessary, but I've been having a hard time finding a product that I want.

Lots of people recommend the pelican cases, those would certainly protect your headphones. They are pricey though. They're also really hard, as in pretty much bomb-proof hard, unlike the hippocase, which are rigid but slightly flexible.

Really I think that the Hippocase is your best option. You mention that you can't find a good seller, here ya go. I found that via a Headfonia article about the Hippocase, so it should be very reliable. I can't really help you with the price, but just think: You spent $200-300 on your headphones, $60 to protect your investment is nothing.

EDIT: I just saw that the Jaben store is out of stock of the Hippocase. You should probably email them and ask when they'll get more.

Yeah, I was ready to pull the trigger on the Hippocase but couldn't find a good seller in the US. :(

Any more suggestions?

Can the HD800 hippo case be had without the bundled stand?  I only saw a $120 bundle that includes both.  I really want one of these, using an old Beyers case that doesn't fit the HD800s makes me sad.
