Headphone crackling issue or source material?

Thread Starter

I have just bought a pair of ATH-M50's after needing a good set of headphones for mixing/music - really liking them but I have one issue.

I have started to notice a crackling sound in the right earphone, but it always appears in the same spot in every song - basically I just want to double check whether this is the source material i.e an MP3 encoding or whether the headphone is struggling in those same spots constantly or with that frequency etc?

I don't have access to another pair of decent headphones that I can hear this with so am just wondering if there is anyway I can test this easily?

Thanks

You can just test it by using a different pair of headphone or speakers on the same audio device with the same song...if it is the song than you should hear the crackling even on crappy earphones.

I have the exact same problem, on some faster pace songs with quick highs and lows I noticed quick pops and crackles in the right ear mostly with the ATH m50 headphones.
