Best pair of cans under $80 - Page 2

Sony V6 from the close ones I'd tried at the price range. I even prefer it over the M50

for open, if you could save a bit more for the Alessandro MS1, pure bliss for my ears.

+1 for V6 at $64 on amazon than the M50 at $150. But I think you should be looking at the 440s or the XB700/500, I think they may suit you better

^ yeah the XB700 is a lot of fun too, although its too big for a portable, dunno if OP thinks the same

Uhm...this is a deaf statement, but from what I've read, both the SRH440 and M35/M40 are neutral, and not bass heavy. Yeah I know, "NO RECOMMENDING/DISSING GEAR YOU HAVEN'T HEARD," but please read more about them before you buy. I'd hate if you bought something and you ended up not loving them.

Another vote for the V6 here. They're a wonderful starter headphone, and incredibly sturdy. If you really listen to 80% hip hop, then the Sony XB series would work too, but I'm not sure you'll love the XB500 in particular with rock. It sounded kind of muddled with complex music.
