Which DAC for me; needs to be cheap and uk friendly. Looking at a few:

Okay so heres's my current setup: onboard sound (ALC892) -> 3.5mm-phono -> cambridge audio azur 340a -> some gale bookshelf speakers. i also occasionally use my HD555's by plugging them straight into the amp (which results in a fairly annoying buzz, one which i've narrowed down to simply being a problem with the audio path in the amp)

So yeah, i'm looking to try and upgrade my audio by getting some sort of dedicated external DAC, and one which ideally would have a headphone jack/amp good enough to power my hd555's as well so i could avoid the buzz which i get by using my headphones in the amp. Be that either a dedicated USB dac, or an external DAC that i can plug my SPDIF or optical output from my motherboard into.

Now i've looked at a couple of options, and the main issue for me is price and being in the UK. I don't really want to spend more than like £70-90~. So far i've looked at:

creative x-fi HD

fiio E7

E-MU 0204

nuforce udac

At the moment, the best option, looking at reviews, actually seems to be the fiio E7. Which despite being designed as a headphone amp, seems to do the job i'm looking for pretty well, and for cheap as well. My question with that is, would using that as a DAC make sense, considering it doesn't have a line level output, so i'd always have a little bit of pre-amping going on before it got to my main amp, or is that not really a big deal? Also is it really a sustainable device to be used 100% of the time as a permenant USB setup? Reviews seem to suggest that but...it just seems annoyingly unncessary to buy a device with an 80 hour battery, that will never be unplugged.

Does anybody have any better suggestions for me or advice?

To summarise again: external DAC, cheap, going in between my PC and my desktop speaker amp, ideally also has a headphone jack for my HD555's. Really doesn't need any fancy features.

Thanks a lot for reading, and any help in advance. Appreciated.

I also had a look at the tubemagic D1 as well, which honestly looks fantastic, but thats more like £135 delivered which a bit more than i'd like to spend, even though it does look lovely.

Doing a bit more research, i've actually found theres a line-out level adaptor for the E7 that totally bypasses the amp, so that answers my question about using the headphone jack to pre-amp or not with the E7. i could decide if i wanted to or not. So thats cool

Also found out fiio are doing a cheap, usb DAC only in sept called the E10, which looks to be absolutely perfect. So i might actually wait for that.

Still very open to other options though. I really feel like i'm just missing some super simple, obvious answer, of a nice little DAC that can sit on my desk, with a headphone jack on it.
