RCA Volume Controller?

Hey guys just in a strange situation and looking for a solution

So I have a Tianyun Zero USB DAC which is just a standard USB DAC which sends a signal to KRK Rokit 5's. Because I'm using the Zero as just a DAC I can't control the volume in the OS and the volume on the Rokit's aren't meant to be adjusted. So basically I have no method of controlling volume other than the application itself and mind you the Rokits are super loud in the room also so this is kind of a problem switching from BLAST MUSIC mode to 3am at night mode.

I guess I'm looking for some kind of method of controlling the RCA volume which works as a middle man between the DAC and the speakers. I hope such thing exists. Does anyone have any input on my situation?

Thanks in advance.

NHT make something called a passive volume control (PVC), a pot in a box with RCA connectors IIRC.  There are others out there as well.  I have an SM Audio iNano but is TRS/XLR so would need adapters for RCA connectors. Works well though.

Any preamp will work, passive or active, doesn't matter.

Optimum line level signal + powered monitors on unity gain = deafness. Known issue.

A monitor controller is the usual solution. Here is a selection.  http://www.thomann.de/gb/studio_monitor_controllers.html

Mackie big knob is popular. TC Electronic level pilot is cool. Fostex good value.

I have this. You can find it much cheaper if you look around the net. I think i picked mine up for $10 or so. You can see it in the red circle.
