Please help me choose a head-amp

Hi everyone :)

I'm new here, I'm a classical music lover and I'm looking for a fine head-amp to go with my AKG K 701, I've already some therads and I apology to ask the question again ;)

I already own a DAC (Beresford gatorized Caiman ) wich owns a built in head-amp, but I find the trebles a bit too harsh and a bit spitty, so I'm looking for a better head amp, I will use it with the fixed line output of the caiman, wich seems to be fine and offers plenty of details

My best choice so far is a Schiit Valhalla, I've read some may prefer the Lyr, I'm not into tube rolling nor other tweakings, I'd like it to work fine just ouf the box

So, Valhalla ? Lyr ? others ? my budget is around 500$ and I live in Europe (France) so I have to keep VAT and Customs fees in mind

Thank you very very MUCH

After many readings (well, obviously not in this thread :) ) I've decided to pick a Schiit Lyr, any known european resellers ?

Good choice! In my opinion the best pick from the current line of Schiit headphone amplifiers to use with the AKG K701 is the Lyr model. You can make your purchase directly from the Schiit website, payment by credit card is handled via Google Checkout. According to my experience shipment to Europe is pretty fast: I ordered my Valhalla on a Monday and it was delivered on Saturday morning same week to my home in Austria.

Keep in mind that import taxes will be added according to the customs in your country.

Werner.
