Head Box II Pro-Ject First Impressions & Questions

So I got the new Pro-Ject amp in. Besides sound (which I haven't really listened too much yet) I really like the compactness and the design of the amp, everything looks really well built. I have a few questions before cracking on testing.

1. Can someone point me to some reviews of desktop amps in the same price range? (under $250)

2. How much burn in time is required (all my IEM's and cans are burned in well over 100 hours, just need to know how much for the amp)

3. What are the best headphones and earphone to use?

4. Is it better to use the line out with my computer using 256 kbps songs in iTunes or 256 kbps songs in FLAC on my STUDIO-V DAP?

256kbps MP3 is a lossy codec.....FLAC is a Lossless compressed format which will not play as low as 256.....maybe somewhere around 600 at the highest compression level.

I don't think an amp needs anywhere as much burn in as a pair of headphones.....if theres  excessive hiss theres a problem with the design or improper assembly.

A properly encoded  FLAC file is ALWAYS the best choice.

I picked this up myself yesterday actually. It's great.

As for your questions, I am also avoiding desktop amps, so I've seen no reviews at all... but I have spent some time reading up on the Grado RA-1 amp, so may be something for you to lookup.

No clue about burn in time for the amp..

I highly recommend the sennheiser HD 598. It's what I use with the Head Box II.

Great pics btw.
