Review: Resonessence Labs Invicta - new high end DAC/amp/playback system - Page 43

Also, is there a way to "unpair" an Apple remote from the Invicta ? I'm currently using two Apple remotes (one from the Apple TV - wireless second monitor is an absolutely brilliant thing BTW, the other one from Resonessence). The one from Resonessence works with the Invicta only and doesn't change anything on the Apple TV. The one from Apple though, activates both the Apple TV and the Invicta. Any clue ?

On the older ATV2, I seem to recall an option for pairing a remote. In the settings menu. Check that out, maybe you can get it to pair or unpair as needed. Not sure how you'd go about "separating" the link from the Invicta though. Maybe shoot them an email if that's your goal.

Release 6.0.4 adds the following features:
Enables DSD support via the AES, Toslink and BNC connectors.

Release 6.0.0 adds the following features:
Introduces FreeType font support for extended character sets (including Asian characters).
Improved FAT file system support.
Fix a bug where the DSD samplerate indicator was incorrect on the HDMI display.
Fix an issue that could cause the audio to swap channels upon play/pause.

Beta site for drivers is here:

Hope the guys at R don't mind me posting.  Found the link with a simple search on their site for "beta".  Been running 6.0.4 software for a couple of weeks with no issues.

Thanks a lot ! Not much in it for me, but as usual it's always nice to see a stream of steady improvements from the Resonessence team.

Agreed.  Been loving my Mirus and can't wait to see what their team does next.

Interestingly the font size has been reduced. Possibly related to FreeType font support ?

I've also noticed that the OLED brightness is now adjusted on a scale that goes up to 10 maximum. I believe it hasn't changed the max brightness, only the scale, but I'm not too sure about this.

Also, just like with the previous firmware, when using Toslink, the frequency rate indicator light is dimmer than when using USB or the SD card (Led brightness set to "3" in my setup). I already had a similar problem with USB that was corrected with a firmware update, I'll send Resonessence a mail about this.

I'm still on the last official FW (5.0 was it?) and I just noticed: playing DSD64 tracks from the SD card, the little DSD logo appears on the right side of the display. But playing DSD128 tracks, it does not. Can you confirm if that's still the case or not with the new FW?

Let me get back to you on that point once I've sorted out the electricity in my home, right now I'm getting electrocuted every time I touch the tap in the shower :D.

Yeah, that sounds kind of important. Be careful!

On my unit, with the latest beta firmware, both DSD 64 and 128 display the DSD logo on the OLED screen.

Cool, I was gonna email them with that minor issue but now I won't bother. Will update mine whenever I get a free moment.

Hi project86,

I've read your (long term) review of the Auralic Taurus MKII in Innerfidelity.

Very detailed, and also very entertaining to read! Great work!

I've read other reviews of that equipment, but yours really made me curious about it.

Could you please share your thoughts about listening to the Invicta + Taurus MKII combo, vs Invicta only in differential mode? And more specifically with the Sennheiser HD800's?

Does it bring any relevant improvements?

Thanks!

Updated to 6.0.4 but still does not display Chinese Characters???   Any body have the same problem?   Thanks for sharing.

Are you specifically asking for Chinese characters or would it be helpful for you if I tried Japanese ones (I don't have any song title in Chinese, only in Japanese, but it should work I suppose since they share some characters) ?

Much less since the introduction of Pinyin I think.
