I've been waiting for the EMU 0406 USB to come out for a few months now. I haven't managed to find any info regarding a release date despite having emailed EMU directly.
I do not know the exact specs so for the sake of this conversation lets use the 0404 as I presume it will be fairly similiar in most aspects.
Now I'm stating to get really interested in the RME Babyface instead. It is considerably more expensive but appears to be really awesome. As well as wanting great quality for listening I am also into producing music on laptop, so it's not just a great DAC I'm after, although that is one of my primary concerns.
Has anyone had experience with both of these units and can perhaps tell me if the RME is worth the extra $$$.
Perhaps the RME is in an entirely different league but I've heard many good things about the 0404 USB so am curious as to how it matches up.
The fact that the RME is bus powered and highly portable is another plus as I like the idea of keeping my studio as portable as I can
