Sennheiser IE8 wire problem!

Hi Guys,

Today when I picked up my ie8's, to my horror, I found that at the point where the earphone piece is connected to the protective wire coating the underlying wire is exposed. I have been handling my ie8's with the at most care, has anyone else had this problem? The only reason I bring this up is because the ie8's were designed such that this point is always stressed when wearing around the ear.

I still have a few months left in my warranty and was wondering if senn would replace them or if I could send it in for repair free of cost. The sound has not been affected but I am still scared of the exposed wire.

Hi solaris7,

 

If your IE 8 is still under warranty, do have it checked at our nearest service centre. You should not be charged for any material or manufacturing faults. Do remember to bring along your proof of purchase.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The nearest Sennheiser service center is pretty far away, how long is the average repair process if I mail the earphones in?

The time required for the repair process varies for each individual case. I spoke to a couple of colleagues from the Service department and they mentioned it can range from a few days to 2 weeks.

Hi,

One last question, my sennheiser invoice does not really mention any serial number, just the name of the product the the order number, but is it still sufficient to make a warranty claim?

Yes, an official invoice or receipt with the product name would be sufficient. If the product comes with a warranty card, do bring it along.
