What might I gain with a headphone amp?

Thanks for your time everyone, and sorry for yet another thread like this, but I couldn't find an existing thread that was specific enough for my questions. I currently have a set of HF2s that I like very much, but I am wondering if there is more I can get from them with a dedicated headphone amp.

I have a Creek Evolution integrated paired with a Rega Apollo CD which drive my headphones. I haven't up to now found out any information on the architecture of the headphone section on my integrated so I am asking two questions now

(1) Does anybody have experience with the Creek Evolution and want to share their knowledge of the headphone section and,

(2) For around $400 could I actually find a new or used hp amp that could improve on what the Creek currently provides?

I haven't been able to compare against other sources with these cans, but I will speculate and say that the headphone section on the Creek wasn't an afterthought of the designers and is likely fairly good, hence my concern that I couldn't improve on it within my budget. FYI if this shapes your suggestions, the Rega Apollo is a detailed CD player, but with a touch of warmness and I listen to every genre of music, but lately more into world music, some electronica, jazz etc. Just ordered Punch by the Punch Brothers based on another head-fier's description.

I'm sorry for the rather large amount of information I have requested input on and I really do appreciate any responses.
