I'm about to invest in AD700's, and I only have onboard sound, but remembered I had a old studio computer (it was in storage) that has an Audiophile 24/96 in it.

Will this be better than onboard? I know I cannot use my current speakers with them, as they are smaller jacks than what the 24/96 offers. Is there a way to use good headphones with this card without losing something through adapters? I have a small Peavey mixer, but at that point it gets kinda complicated?

I could run the card through the mixer, then plug the headphones into the monitor 1/4 (the AD700's come with an adapter up from phono plugs)

Would this be the 'correct' way to do this? I don't have any spare money for another internal card. Would the 24/96 be better than my onboard even though it's older? I used to use it for recording and ASIO drivers for other things but have no idea on how to hook up headphones to it.

Thanks for any help at all... I'm up a creek!
