Sound card for the Sennheiser PC 360?

Thread Starter

Hi there.

So I am very much looking into ordering a pair of Sennheiser PC 360 G4ME, and based on what I've been reading, it would be best to go with a dedicated sound card as well. Right now I only have the on-board on my Asus P8P67...

So I've been looking at a few, and the Asus XONAR DG seems to be the best value for the price (right now, I am not prepared to spend a lot of money on the sound card). It has a built-in headphone amplifier which I suppose would be very good for this type of headset (and the one thing that would be the major difference compared to the on-board sound?).

I am mostly looking for good sound in music, but also good for games (which from what I can understand, the PC 360 is a fantastic all-round headset). I generally listen to post-rock, metal, classical and 'orchestra-ish' music :).

Anyway, my question is basically if this would be a good combo? Do throw in suggestions, though ;). However, I am not interested in getting just a pair of headphones and then a clip-on mic. That's why I have pretty much settled on the PC 360 now. It seems to be getting good reviews almost anywhere you look.

Thanks in advance bigsmile_face.gif.

I would think this is a very good combination.

I use the PC 360s with an Essence ST in my main rig, and an old pair of HD 555s with a DG on my old gaming machine. The 555s are very similar to the PC 360s, with the exact same drivers and very similar structure. I've switched a bit back and forth and am not 100 % sure I would be able to tell the difference between the two setups in a blind test.

The PC 360 is indeed a fantastic headset, and the DG gives you a whole lot of sound card for the money.
