will excess dust damage my open headphone??

so, i got my hd598 about 2months ago.. usually i only put them on my desk when not in use. however, now i realise there is dust buildup in the grills and also on the velour pads.. my question is, if i keep ignoring this, would anything bad happens to my headphone? (driver failing, etc)

also, how could i clean the dust from the velour pads?? when i wipe them with finger or cloth, some of the dust still stick to the pads..

Starting cleaning your living quarters on a regular basis maybe?  Also, PC duster gas was made to clean electrical components.  Just keep the nozzle 8 - 12 inches away and you should be good.

Someone please comment on this if you think the compressed air is bad for the driver.

I think that after a good while, yes probably. Just get a case for em and put them in at night.

I really can't see how dust could actually damage your headphones. I think it's just more of a cosmetic thing. As previous posters have said, spray em off, and store them in something. I'd wipe the outsides down once in a while with a cloth.

x2 That stuff works great. I prefer the cans that are just pressurized air though - I don't feel comfortable spraying chemicals into expensive electrical components, and IMO they don't really make a difference.

A large buildup can block the drivers, I guess.

You may wipe your headphones with a cloth.
