Stupid question : Is it possible to use LCD-2 or HE-6 in bed ?

Yep, stupid question but really important for me : is it possible to use the LCD-2 or HE-6 while lying on your back in bed ? I know I have no problem wearing listening to my T1 in bed but it was almost impossible with the AKG701 because they are too big. I'm really interested by the LCD-2, HE-6 and HE-500 but I'm afraid I won't be able to use them in bed like the K701.

I can't believe there isn't already a thread about bed-safe cans ;-)

Why can't you just sit up in bed...?

Those cans on all those mentioned are huge :\  unless you are a giant with a titanic sized noggin' i would say no, the cups most likely will push upward too much.  Then again what do i know?  Im short :P

Arggghhhh ... It means i'll have to go back to the HD800.

My bed is comfortable too. :o

The HE-500 I have weighs the same as the HE-6, and I can't imagine laying down with it for long. Way too heavy. The HD800 would be a far better option if you must lay down in terms of weight, though it's still big in size.

They can and I do use my HE-4 (and the loaner HE-500) while laying on my back with a few pillows

I don't think the weight would be a problem, but if you're lying on a pillow, the LCD-2 might be a better option because the HE6 are very sensitive to anything blocking or covering the open back, or getting even close to it at all.  I tried lying on my back with the he6 and the pillow puffing up around my head changed their sound for the worse.

I use memoryfoam pillows that don't puff up

Yeah that could work.  Different pillows are going to have different sound characteristics.  You have to mod your pillows for the best soundstage and bass response.

Aren't there any hi-fi beds? Maybe Coconut audio can cook something up.

I use the LCD2s in bed w/ no problems.  But maybe that means my head is way too big.  In all seriousness, I do prop the pillows below the point that they would envelope the open vents for the 'phones.

As long as you're using adequate protection, I don't see that there would be a problem. It's a little strange that anyone likes their headphones quite that much, though...
