Do I need a headphone amp?

Thread Starter

I am really new to head-fi and hope someone can help me on this...

My HTPC is connected to Yamaha RX-V671 receiver. Is the headphone output of my setup efficient to drive AKG 702 headphone without headphone amp? If I get Fiio E9 / E7 combo, will I notice a quality qain? Below you can find the spec of my receiver.

Maybe. Why don't you plug your headphones in and find out? If they sound good to you, you won't have to buy anything else.
