Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my personal listening setup (right now I have a Logitech z5500 with JBL N24s replacing the fronts and a set of Altec Lansing MX5021).  I'm thinking of a maximum budget of $300.

Here are my choices:

Swans M50w (2.1 setup, 3" drivers and a 6.5" "sub") http://www.swanspeaker.com/product/htm/view.asp?id=443

Swans M200mkII (Powered Monitors) http://www.swanspeaker.com/product/htm/view.asp?id=364

Craigslist setup- get a pair of used tower speakers (JBL, Yamaha, etc) and a cheap receiver (yamaha and onkyo)

Get a cheap Yamaha or Onkyo receiver, and some Polk Audio bookshelves and maybe a cheap sub

HTIB, use the receiver and fronts for a 2.1 setup

My preference is to have good audio, I like to listen to rock, instrumentals, techno, and mostly lighter music.  I do use it to game and watch movies but I have a HTIB to the TV for that.

What would be my best choice(s)?  Anything else?
